S304 – Old Painted Woodwork Tromp-L’oeil with Knocker

Saturday 8:00 am – 5:30 pm
(Includes break from Noon to 1:30 pm)

In this workshop, you will learn to paint a trompe-l’oeil with the illusion of old painted woodwork with cracks and the patina of time. To complete this work, we will add a molding and a knocker trompe-l’oeil.

Supplies to Bring: Students MUST bring these BASIC SUPPLIES plus: Straight edge (2 feet minimum), eraser, compass, striping edge, striping brush (slanted striping sable size 8), 3 fitch hair rondin (size 6, 8, 12), brushes for background coat, 2 square flat brushes (small and medium), 2 pointed detail brushes (medium and large), a rag, disposable plastic plates (palettes), small water bucket, natural sea sponge, hairdryer, camera, no video

F305 – Rosette Trompe L’oeil Ornament

Friday 8:00 am – Noon

In this workshop, students will learn to paint a rosette trompe l’oeil ornament. Learn how to place shadows and highlights to create illusion. You will use the « poncif » old renaissance technique to draw a pattern. You can use this technique to add embellishments in your jobs.

Supplies to Bring: Students MUST bring these BASIC SUPPLIES plus: A rag, disposable plastic plates (palettes), eraser, small water bucket, 2 square flat brushes (small and medium), 2 pointed detail brushes (small and medium), 3 fitch hair rondin (size 2, 6, 12), natural sea sponge, hairdryer, camera and no video.

W304 – Drapery Trompe L’oeil

Wednesday 8:00 am – 5:30 pm

(Includes break from Noon to 1:30 pm)

In this workshop, students will paint a draped trompe l’oeil and learn how to place highlight and shadows to create the illusion of folds. You will use the poncif an old technique used since the renaissance to draw the drape. One canvas trompe l’oeil Size: 29.5″ x 19.7″.

Supplies Student is to bring: Students must bring these BASIC SUPPLIES plus:  straight edge (2 feet minimum), eraser, a rag, disposable plastic plates (palettes), small water bucket, brushes for background coat, a blue suede spalter if possible or a spalter (size 100), 2 square flat brushes (small and medium), 2 pointed detail brushes (medium and small), 3 fitch hair rondin (size 6, 8 and 16), hairdryer, camera, no video.
